Riley Unroe Pursuing Same Dream As His Father

Riley Unroe is only 18 years old, but in his second season in professional baseball. He was drafted in the second round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He is following in his father’s footsteps as a professional baseball player. Tim Unroe played in the big leagues from 1993 to 2000, and then in Japan after that. Riley remembers being in his father’s clubhouse as a young boy, where he fell in love with the game.

Unroe Chooses Pros Over College

Years ago, Riley Unroe made a deal with his father, Tim, a former major league player. If Riley was selected within the top two rounds of the Major League Draft, Tim would allow his son to sign professionally versus going to college. With a scholarship offer in hand to USC, Riley chose the pros.
