Chris Owings Comes From a Baseball Family

Arizona Diamondbacks rookie shortstop Chris Owings grew up in a baseball family. Chris passed up a college baseball scholarship by signing with the Diamondbacks as the 41st overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft.

He has one brother, Kyle, who pitched collegiately at College of Charleston and pitched one season in the Diamondbacks organization. This past season he played in the independent Frontier League, hoping to catch on with another major league organization.

Another brother, Connor, is currently playing at Coastal Carolina even though he has a kidney disorder and is on the transplant list.
