Kevin Long and Son Jaron Suit Up for the Same Team

Kevin Long is the new hitting coach for the Washington Nationals after having served in similar capacities for the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

On the Nationals spring training roster is Kevin’s son, Jaron, a pitcher in his sixth professional season.  A right-handed starter, Jaron split the 2017 season between Triple-A Syracuse and Double-A Harrisburg.  He began his pro career in 2012 in the Yankees organization after attending Ohio State University.

Long Father and Son Share Baseball Franchise

Kevin Long, the hitting coach for the New York Yankees, gets to keep close tabs on his son Jaron, who is currently a pitcher in the Yankees organization. Jaron was not drafted out of college in 2013, but has found his way onto the Class A Tampa club in the Yankees system where his father has been working since 2004.

Jaron has lived a baseball life since following his dad at baseball stadiums throughout his minor league career. He later got to hang around Yankees pitchers Andy Pettitte and David Robertson as a result of his father’s big league job. Considered somewhat of a long-shot, Jaron has the advantage of getting support from his father.
