Chris Mazza was the starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees on August 16. The game was special for him, since he is the cousin of former Red Sox all-star Dom DiMaggio and legendary Yankees great Joe DiMaggio.
Mazza is in his second major-league season, having appeared for the New York Mets last year.
His relationship to the DiMaggios stems from his grandmother who was a cousin of the the trio of major-league brothers that included Vince DiMaggio.
