Lee May Jr. Part of a Family Tradition

Lee May Jr. is currently the hitting coach for the Portland Sea Dogs in the Boston Red Sox organization.  His son, Jacob, made his major-league debut earlier this season with the Chicago White Sox.  His son, Lee III, is also following in his dad’s footsteps as a baseball player as a high school sophomore.

May Jr. and his sons get their baseball heritage from Lee May Sr., a veteran of 18 years in the major-leagues between 1965 and 1982.  May Sr. logged over 2,000 hits and 350 home runs during his career.

May Jr. got his early baseball experiences when he accompanied his father as a member of the Cincinnati Reds’ “Big Red Machine” and roamed the Reds’ clubhouse along with the sons of Pete Rose, Tony Perez and Ken Griffey.
