Trayce Thompson Didn’t Follow Family Bloodlines in Hoops

Trayce Thompson was in the news during baseball’s winter meetings when he was dealt by the Chicago White Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-team trade that also involved the Cincinnati Reds.

Trayce deviated from his family’s ties in pro basketball.  His father Mychal was an NBA center for 11 seasons, the last five with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Trayce’s two brothers also played in the NBA.  Klay was an all-star member of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors in the 2014-2015 season, while Mychel played one season for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011-2012.

Trayce will be competing for a roster spot with the Dodgers, after making his major league debut with the White Sox in 2015, when he hit a credible .295 with five home runs in 44 games.
