Boxberger Father and Son Were Both First-Round Picks

Brad Boxberger currently pitches for the Tampa Bay Rays, in his fourth major league season.  He was selected by the Cincinnati Red organization in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft.  He was selected to play in the American League All-Star Game in 2015.

Brad’s father, Rod, was also a first-round pick as a pitcher from the University of Southern California, in the 1978 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros.  Rod pitched for six seasons in the minors with the Astros, Yankees, and Angels organizations.
