Kyle Gaedele’s Bloodlines Include Famous Baseball Showman

Kyle Gaedele is currently playing in the San Diego Padres organization for the Double-A San Antonio Missions.  He was a 6th round draft pick of the Padres in 2011.

His great-uncle is the famous Eddie Gaedel (who spelled his surname by dropping the last “e”), the 3-foot-7, 65 pound player of the St. Louis Browns who made a major league appearance for the St. Louis Browns in 1951, as part of a stunt by then-owner of the Browns, Bill Veeck.  It was a legitimate major league at-bat, and the record books show that the smallish Gaedel walked in that at-bat.

Kyle gets a lot of questions about his great-uncle in his baseball travels in the minor leagues.
