Andy MacPhail was recently named the president of the Philadelphia Phillies, continuing the tradition of there being a MacPhail family member as an executive in Major League Baseball. This is not Andy’s first job in baseball, however. He has held similar posts with the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, and Minnesota Twins organizations. He has also worked in the Astros organization.
Andy’s father, Lee MacPhail, was the American League President after serving as GM for the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.
Andy’s grandfather, Larry MacPhail, was GM for the Cincinnati Reds, president of the Brooklyn Dodgers, and part-owner and GM for the New York Yankees.
Lee and Larry MacPhail are both members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
