Mitchell Ghelfi was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 28th round of the 2015 MLB draft. He follows a family tradition of professional baseball, which included three generations of ballplayers.
Mitchell’s father, Andy, was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1985 and played five seasons in the minors. However, His uncle, Tony, made it to the big leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1983, but injuries cut his career short.
Richard Ghelfi, Mitchell’s grandfather, pitched in the minor leagues from 1953 to 1956 in the Cardinals organization.
Drew Ghelfi, Mitchell’s brother, was also drafted by the Brewers in 2013 and played two seasons at the Rookie League level.
