J. D. Underwood, is a pitching prospect for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, following in the footsteps of his father Tom Underwood, and his uncle Pat Underwood. Tom Underwood died in 2002 of pancreatic cancer when J. D. was 18 years old. J. D. keeps his father close through a tattoo that says, “Winners always win without their best stuff.” Plus, he has a set of memories of his father being the most optimistic person he knew.
J. D. is entering his third professional season, after two seasons in rookie ball. His father was an eleven-year pitcher with six different teams from 1974 to 1984. Uncle Pat pitched in four seasons with Detroit from 1979 to 1983.
