Baker Looking for a Spot on Mariners’ Roster

As non-roster invitee in spring training, 34-year-old John Baker is looking to secure a spot on the Seattle Mariners’ roster as a backup catcher.  He has played seven years in the big leagues, including stints with the Marlins, Padres, and Cubs.

His father, Dave, was a sixth-round pick of the Phillies organization in 1975, but lasted only two seasons in the minors.
