Frank Torre, brother of Hall of Famer Joe Torre, recently died on September 13, at age 82. Frank, nine years older than Joe, also played in the major leagues. He played seven big league seasons, most prominently with the Milwaukee Braves from 1956 to 1960. He appeared in the World Series with the Braves in 1957 and 1958.
Frank encouraged Joe to sign with the Braves, but they never played together. Frank discouraged his brother from taking the managerial job with the New York Yankees, but Joe went on to win four World Series titles.
