Actor Kurt Russell Has Family Ties in Baseball

Actor Kurt Russell was the son of movie and TV actor Bing Russell, who owned an independent baseball franchise at Portland in the Class A Northwest League in the 1970s. Recently, a documentary film has been released as a tribute to Bing and his Mavericks team, titled “The Battered Bastards of Baseball.”

Following his father’s interest in baseball, Kurt Russell actually played a few seasons of Class-A minor league baseball during 1971-1973.
