Chris O’Dowd Likes Playing in Rockies Organization Where His Father is GM

Chris O’Dowd is very comfortable playing in the Colorado Rockies organization, even though his father, Dan, is the General Manager for the Major League club. Chris was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres as a junior at Dartmouth College, but switched to the Rockies after only one season with the Padres. He feels like the Rockies organization are giving him a chance to play to his full capability. Dan O’Dowd has been the General Manager for the Rockies since 1999.

My book, Family Ties: A Comprehensive Collection of Facts and Trivia About Baseball’s Relatives, has an extensive list of more instances of sons of Major League scouts and executives who are playing professional baseball.
