Marva Lee “Tommy” Thomas played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in the late ’40s and early ’50s. She learned the game of baseball from her father, Herb Thomas, who played Major League Baseball for three seasons during 1924-1927. They are the only father-daughter combination in the Florida Baseball Hall of Fame. Tommy recently died at age 83.
In my book, Family Ties: A Comprehensive Collection of Facts and Trivia About Baseball’s Relatives, I have a section on women in baseball who had family ties to players in the Majors.
