Jim Russell One of Three Brothers to Reach Majors

The three Russell brothers from Fayette City, PA were all involved in baseball, gaining their interest from their father, a coal miner who also played amateur baseball. Jim Russell advanced to the Major Leagues in 1942 and wound up playing ten years with the Pirates, Braves, and Dodgers. His brothers Carl and Jack began playing professional baseball after WW II, but failed to reach the big leagues.
