Freese Brothers Competed for Same Position

Gene Freese, a 12-year veteran of the Major Leagues, died on June 19. In my book, Family Ties: A Comprehensive Collection of Facts and Trivia About Baseball’s Relatives, I noted that Gene and his brother, George, competed for the third base position with the 1955 Pittsburgh Pirates. Gene played in 65 games at the hot corner, while George played 50.
